Ice Skating

We'll start our post today with a picture of our sweet little Jakes. I love his big, blue eyes.
Saturday started early with Nathan and Jakie. I got this great picture of the two of them.
When the other 2 woke up we had some yummy pancakes and got ready for a fun, winter day. We bought the kids some second hand ice skates and headed to a local park for some fun. We had the rink to ourselves.
We were impressed at how well Briellie did. She was stable and confident as she waddled across the ice on her skates.
Nathan preferred to let Daddy carry all his weight and skate around. By the end, he did experiment with putting some weight on his skates. :)
We taped the National Figure Skating on Saturday to show to Brielle, thinking she would be impressed with all that they could do after simply trying to walk on the ice in her skates. Her reaction? "I can do that too because I am awesome at ice skating!" She and Nathan then got up to do their own spins and "skating" in our living room. They were good.
Nathan felt more stable down here.
Our cute little ice skaters.
(No. I wish. He has his boots on in this pic.)
Our toasty little man. Jakes was so warm and snuggly in his seat and stroller that he slept through the whole outing.
I think he is so handsome with those brown eyes and happy smile.

Prayer Update

Dad: "Nathan will you bless the food tonight? Remember to say the important things in the middle." (see previous post for explanation on that)
Nathan's monologue went as follows:
With wide brown eyes and animation in his voice: "Yeah! I forgot to say the important things....Heavenly Father, Thank you for this day. Thank you for I ate the bread mommy made to give to someone. In the name..."
1 second passes in which Mom and Dad's head stay bowed in an effort to hide the smiles.
"Oh no! I forgot to bless the food." (short pause)
In a solemn voice: "Bless the food"
(2 second pause)
"Heavenly Father, Thank you for this day. Thank you for bless the food. In the name..."
Then Nathan eagerly began eating while Mom and Dad swallowed their laughter.

Important Things

Our little Nathan gives the sweetest, most thankful prayers. He says thank you for thing after thing...sometimes they are quite random: lights, yogurt, couches etc. He almost always says thank you for his family and our new house. Last night he started his prayer and ended it immediately with nothing in between. Jared said, "Nathan, you forgot to say all of the important things in the middle." Nathan immediately bowed his head again and said, "Heavenly Father, Important things. In the name..." It brought a smile to our faces. I guess he was ready to get to bed.
