Star Birthday

This year Brielle chose to go to St. George to celebrate her birthday with her Grandma Kay and Grandpa Ken. We all had a blast. She is already planning her "5 birthday and 6 birthday" and asked yesterday if she could turn 5 in a "short week." Birthdays are just too much fun! :) The theme she chose for this year was "stars." Since we couldn't go to St. George until after her birthday we celebrated a little bit on the actual day. We asked her what she wanted for her birthday breakfast. Her answer after much deliberation..."broccoli, carrots, spinach and poppyseed dressing." Where that came from I'm not sure, but I'm not complaining. :) Jared made her snails out of carrots and broccoli (look closely to see the eyes) on their way to pig out on a pile of spinach.

We had star pizza for dinner. I was ready to make a pizza in the shape of a star, but she suggested cutting the ham into stars. Much easier and very cute.

She enjoyed helping to frost and decorate her mini cupcakes with star sprinkles. Her beautiful work

Star charades. Each team had to act out a story or song with the word star in it for the other team to guess. The boys followed the star and brought gifts to Baby Jesus. The girls wondered what that Twinkling Little Star was... Hide and Seek with Brielle's favorite glass stars. She likes to play this game with Grandma unintentionally all year long. At Christmas time when Grandma uses the stars for decoration Brielle plays with and eventually "hides" the stars all over the house. Grandma finds them for the next several months.

Great Job Brielle!

She chose to go to the "Grape Store" for her birthday dinner. Yum!! She could have had anything on the menu. What did she choose? A plateful of grated parmesan cheese that the waiter gave her free of charge. A new doll from Grandma and Grandpa. Yipee! Sweet Loves. She has decided to name her "Briellity"...the name she often says she wants to be called when she grows up.
Opening presents "under the stars" in a tent. She got a sleeping bag, flashlights and camp chair. Fun! Gma and Gpa also gave her a book, pjs, and a darling GREEN purse full of fun little stuff!

Reading the new book in her new chair.

New Pj's hug for grandma

Her Colorado Granny and Granddad sent her a gift card to Walmart. Talk about fun. She got to choose whatever she wanted. After seeing a wide variety of options in the toy department, here are her choices, in order of importance:

  • Coloring Book ($1)
  • Playdoh ($1.66)
  • Little People Tractor (much more)

Now remind me...why do we spend so much money on kids? Brielle would rather have a $1 coloring book than the Princess keyboard I showed her. Hmmm....

The photos show that much fun (actually joy) was had by all. I think the one of the three girls looking for stars is the best. Utter Joy being had by all! Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of something said in a sacrament meeting in Tawa, New Zealand years ago.... We are not here for the fun of it, but for the joy of it.

This is quite the blog-a-thon, I'm loving it! The star party and cake sound like so much fun! The star sprinkles on the side of the cake are adorable! What a creative idea to get her camping gear to go out in nature and see the real stars. You are such great parents!
